Creative image-making and specialist retouching, combining decades of hands-on experience with the technical expertise to tackle demanding commercial projects.
My career spans magazine covers, editorial photography, advertising campaigns and complex product imagery for leading brands, publishers and organisations.
Earlier in my career, I worked at Future Publishing, where I ran a dedicated image-making department, specialising in magazine covers, complex image manipulation and preparing artwork for demanding print processes and finishes.
In 2004, I established my own freelance creative business, working directly with clients, agencies, photographers and publishers. Since then, projects have included specialist hair retouching for the Head & Shoulders #GoScalpBrave World Cup campaign, work for ASDA Good Living, and creative projects for Sony, Capcom and the Natural History Museum.
My experience covers a wide range of disciplines, from intricate compositing and advertising retouching to product photography, large-scale image libraries and specialist print production, including embossing, debossing and other demanding finishes.
I specialise in larger projects where consistency matters just as much as creativity. I develop efficient Photoshop workflows and custom action systems to handle demanding production requirements while maintaining a consistently high standard throughout.
My approach is clean and considered. The aim is always to strengthen an image, solve visual problems and achieve the best possible result without losing its character.
Alongside traditional retouching and image-making, I use modern AI tools where they genuinely add value, bringing new possibilities to creative production while retaining the judgement and control that come from years of practical experience.
